Hi Folks,
The plastic supports that hold the drawer rails at the rear finally failed. The two kinds of plastic that make up the support are not very sturdy. Super glueing the pieces back proved futile.
Cutting up some 1 1/4 square 1/16 inch tube, replacement supports were fabricated.
Please see Drawer Rear Support Replacement for photos.
The side rails these rear supports are used on are the type of drawer that lifts up to unlock.

I became very frustrated with the supports breaking as well. I have decides to aline the brackets so drawer guide and drawer front are straight. I will then cut some mount blocks and glue them in place on the box sides near rear of guides so I can screw the guides in place to the blocks for support.

I had the same problem on my 99 Allure and after replacing them 9 or 10 times (new one provided by CC at no cost), I decided to do exactly what you are doing. Made some spacers and screws the slides directly to them, problem solved. I still have a bag of the supports somewhere, the Intrigue use a different slide (Accuride) that has it's own problem, the locks fail and the drawers won't close properly and open while driving.

I too had the same issue, however after replacing the supports I took pieces of 1" x 2" and attached to all the drawer slides in a column. There are recessed screw attachment holes in the side of the slides. This serves to also vertically support the weight of the drawers taking the strain off of the plastic supports. I have seen the plastic supports at Home Depot. ddtuttle
