My mechanic just notified me that my transmission oil is brown and that I should change. I have 62,000 miles on the coach and the last time I changed the oil was at about 5,000 miles. Is it brown from over heating or is that just the color.?

If it is brown it's burnt and this is from most often overheating. Do you know what type of fluid was installed at 5000 miles ? This will help with some suggestions on what type of oil to replace with.

Al,

I do not know, it was don at the Allison Shop here in San diego. What should I be looking for in an oil?

Take a look at the billing invoice, work order for the service at 5000 miles. Under oil type listing might be Dexron III or TranSynd.
