While drydocked at the Ft. Myers CCI rally I experienced problems with the breaker on my generator flipping every time I started it up, even though I had virtually no load on it. It was finally determined that the Hurricane hot water elements are on all the time electrical input is available. The only way to shut them off is to turn off the breakers in the main coach breaker box. If your battery is charging at the bulk rate it is pulling 23 Amps, so very little additional load will overload one of the 35 Amp circuits. Jim Cooley of CC is going to get with Hurricane to come up with a modification to solve this problem .

Did you get your new Hurricane? Is it working any better than the old one?
I will love the day when I never have to type the word "Hurricane" again!
One more question---after your Hurricane shuts down and the system recycles, does the pump in the front of your coach run for two or more minutes? Does it make a LOUD humm when it is cycling?
My pump is so loud that it wakes me up at night.
Now to your original question---my generator also would pop the current switch on the generator when I started it. I did not know what the problem was, but found if I started the generator manually in the bay, it would not pop the the switch. Go figure----
Thanks

Yes, I did get the new Hurricane before starting on this trip ( I'm in Florida ) and it has performed perfectly. The circ. pump in the front cap was running constantly whenever the hot water switch was on, but Craig rewired it while at the CCI rally so it only runs when hot water is demanded. It was never very loud. My spouse is convinced that we don't have as much hot water as before, so I'll have it checked whenever the modification is made re my previous mssg.
