Had an interesting incident last week. After returning from a walk, we noticed that we were inverting (plugged into a 50amp service). A check at the breaker showed 120/120/240. I did a voltage check at the surge protector, and found 120/0/120. Backing up, I took the faceplate off of the wind up reel, and checked the power cord terminations, again finding 120/0/120. If I shook the cord, I could get intermittent, but low, voltage. I disconnected the power, disconnected the terminations, and did a continuity check on each wire and plug blade. The "red" wire was faulty, I'm suspecting right at the male blade termination. Since it was now 8:00pm and very dark, I left the red wire disconnected, installed a jumper from the black wire termination to the red termination, and plugged back in. Doing this fooled the coach into thinking we had a 30amp service (we kept the load minimal durning the night, as only 1-120v wire was carring the load. Luckily I was near a good RV parts place, and was able to buy a replacement the next morning. We are all back together and working OK now. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement plug head (male)? I'd like to convert the old cord to an extension cord.

We had soomething similar happen about a year ago on our '06 Allure. If we moved the cord portion that was inside the rig while plugged in we would occasionally get one leg of the power back.
We have the manual reel and I called TDI who shipped me a replacement cord/reel set and ha dme return the bad one...no charge.
I fyou have a manual or power reel you shoudl contact the manufacturer to see if they will cover it rather than paying out of pocket.

A few years ago, our neighboring campers burned their 50 amp plug while plugging into a defective receptical. Since that time, I've always carried a spare 50 male replacement plug end. If the male end gets destroyed, I can cut off the end and rewire a new plug to the existing cord. I bought the plug at Home Depot for just a few bucks.
