There are a number of possible reasons why the electric is not heating. Is the breaker on in the 110v breaker box? Is the Electric Heat switch turned on? It is usually next to the Diesel switch in a panel. My 2004 Allure is likely different than yours. There is a reset button located on the electric element itself. You have to remove the cover to get access to it and it may be difficult to find.
I suggest that you join the Yahoo Hydronic Heat Group. Roger Berke the group owner is an authorized AquaHot tech and very helpful. There are also troubleshooting guides in the files section. Roger will be much more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to the backfiring issue. He also has a pretty good lost of service facilities throughout the country.
