My coach uses these milky white hard plastic lines for the hot and cold water that have connectors that are fastened with metal bands that were obviously installed using some fancy tool. I may have to replace some of these metal elbows. Is there a way that a mere mortal without a band tool can make these connections and replace pipe sections?

Take a small section of the water pipe to Lowes. They will have connections you can use without using the metal bands.

OR ... They may rent you the crimp tool.

I found Shark bite couplers that will connect to the PEX plumbing, easy to install, just cut the old elbow out and then using the Shark bite replacement, you push it onto the old PEX line, no need for any tools. Read more at this site:

I found my fittings at Lowes.
