Hi Folks! Just wanted to let you know there is an answer for short folks who have a manual ZipDee awning. Gene Holcomb, a group member, posted this info some time ago and we followed up on it and ordered the kit from ZipDee. The kit changes out the arms on the awning making it easier for shorties to extend and retract the awning without the need for a ladder to reach everything. The cost of the kit was $150 and installation was another $150 (about 2 hours of work). We are in Tucson and got Chris Snyder, former CC tech, to install it. By the way, I recommend Chris for any coach work. He is excellent and knows Country Coaches in and out. His number is 520 665-1014.

Safe travels and HappyNew Year to everyone!

There is also a less expensive solution for us shorties: ZipDee sells a rafter arm extension rod for less than $100. It attaches to the release button so you can slide the rafter arm up into the slot, or release it. It works just fine.

I must admit that I am also a member of the "shortie group". I agree with Dale. This is a simple well made device that also doubles as an awning pull rod. I use it every time I deploy my awning. No strain. No ladders. No installation required. You just need a steady hand and a fair amount of coordination to pilot the arm end into that tiny slot on the awning cover without scratching your paint. I have been successful thus far as a result of doing this before the cocktail hour! BTW IMHO This old Zip-Dee workhorse is the most dependable and trouble free awning I have ever owned!

P.S. Hey Dale. Are you guy back in the Valley yet?

If anyone is interested, I have the ZeeDee Awning rod with the attachment for the buttons. I no longer need it as I upgraded to the new arms.

I tried to call Zip Dee to see what a new one was and they did not answer. I was thinking 1/2 of new would be fair. I will check with them on Monday. Where are you. This thing is about 3' long, it would have to ship in about a 3.5' tube.

Guys,

Don't you think that your personal communications would be better handled in a personal way? Surely you both have email addresses that can be accessed directly rather than through this group site.

Thanks
