Hi CCO Group Members

We have hashed this out before on this CCO Forum. Let's limit further discussion -- refer back in the achives if necessary.
Now is the time to share your opinion (pro or con) with your state legislators. Information about how to do this is in the FMCA letter below.

DATE:

January 18, 2010 TO: FMCA National Directors FROM: Governmental and Legislative Affairs Committee RE: U.S. Forest Service to Cut Senior Pass Discounts

The current lifetime multi-agency America the Beautiful pass (honored by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and Bureau of Reclamation) for seniors 62 and older provides for free entry into these federal lands. It also provides for a 50 percent discount for camping at all Forest Service campgrounds and free use of day-sites at these lands. The proposal would change the 50 percent discount at campgrounds run by private concessionaires to a minimum discount of 10 percent. Fees would be charged at day-use sites with a 10 percent discount given. The same changes would apply to holders of the passes for the permanently disabled. Currently, the holders of the disabled passes get free entry, free camping and free use of day-sites.
If passed, this regulatory change would adversely affect us. We urge you to contact your chapter's members and ask them to contact their local federal representatives to oppose this U.S. Forest Service proposal.
Time is running out. Public comments on this proposed change must be received by the Forest Service by February 1, 2010.

Herb,

I will honor your request to limit discussion, but I have to mention that this attachment is full of errors and miss-information. We have volunteered at the Fish and Wildlife and sold the various passes for the past 4 winters. We are currently at the Eufaula Fish and Wildlife Refuge.
Tomorrow I hope to personal email you with the errors that I see and let you decide what if anything you wish to do about it. I also do not want to reactivate this past length discussion.
