hello group,

We are going to be changing our fronts and contemplating Michelin's on our 2001 42 Affinity with tag. #6004

315/80 22.5

Current tires are Toyo and are in good shape, about 45 thousand miles, we are just thinking due to age that we should start the replacement process.
I seem to remember some mention of problems with a certain series of Michelin tires back in the day.

If anyone is able to fill me in that would be great.

thank you,
John

We replaced our Toyos with Michelin XZE2 tires, and are very happy. They run cooler and track real well.

Since there has been discussion lately on tires and pricing I thought I would pass on some info that I just purchased 6 new Michelin 295X80RX22.5 XZA2 tires for my drive axles from Costco for $509.00 each. It does not include tax or install. I will have them installed and balanced by a local Truck tire shop for $40.00 per tire. Saved $$$ over my next lowest quote.

Ugh, I just called Les Schwab in Junction City for this same tire and now they want $630. Should I ask for anyone specific? Seems you bought your tires just 5 months ago. Why would they go up so much?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim

Rob said that they had bought a truck load maybe it was a special price.
You never know when a sales person tells you something is a good price.

I have been trying to purchase a set of Michelin tires for a 2007 Magna about three months at the tire shop in New Mexico. Has anyone else had the same problem purchasing or obtaining Michelin tires? I have been told that Michelin indicated to the dealer they are on back order.

I suggest you try Redburn tires, they are located just out side El Paso, in Albuquerque, and Farmington. They are also all over Arizona. The Sunland Park store stocks 12R because of the large bus business with the Mexican bus companies in Mexico and US> I always get a quote from them when I'm twisting Paul's arm AT Les Schwab in Junction City. I for get to mention I have to pay Tax and for mounting and dismounting if I buy in Sunland Park.
TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731. They also have the Continental tires.

Willie,

I don't own a CC yet, looking forward to next to next fall to buy. In northern CA t had to go to an independent tire dealer that does big truck and/or motorhome tires, to put new tires on my Fleetwood Diesel Pusher. Remember to tell dealer you want currently produced tires (within last 3-6 months). Otherwise you may get one or all that have been aged 1-2 or more years that could start to check before you use up the tread. If needed can get info of how to read the serial number off the internet.

I purchased mine through FMCA, if you are a member, best prices and they will ship to the dealer of your choice. The 12R is basically a truck tire, a little harder side wall and a little narrower, if my memory is working, I purchased the XZA..295x80Rx22.5, I also used the ceramic beads and am happy after about 10K miles. I have checked with at least 10 different dealers and they all told me that Michelin tires are on backorder, I then called Michelin Company and they told me that it could be the end of May or early June before the 295 80R 22.5 tires will be available. They come from a factory in Germany and the Michelin rep told me that they cannot give me an exact date as they don't have access to that info.

So why don't you go with 12R's. You could also try 315's, they work on my Ovation. Another choice would be to go with Continentals or Bridgestone. Twi 2004 Intrigue 11731

This is a Post I made from May of last year. Just passing on what information I was given at the time.

Hi Dean,

Sometime ago I was replacing my tires on my Magna and knew Damon and was able to check with him and get his advise. I was looking at the XZA2's as I had them on a prior Coach, and was very happy with them. Damon agreed that this was the best tire at the time, about 3 years ago. However I will add this, he said: " . . . what ever you do don't let someone talk you into putting a different size on the Coach than what CC Delivered it with, that is the correct size, do not change it . . . " I hate to quote people at such a later date but it still may apply ? GOOD LUCK !
