I'm getting concerned about the movement of our living room slide. When it is being retracted the bottom begins to move in first and then the top snaps in to catch up with the bottom and then it all moves smoothly until fully retracted. This action has been getting more pronounced and I'm concerned that something might need to be adjusted or tightened. I would like to catch it in time before something breaks. What adjustments or alignments are there on this slide mechanism and what should be checked?

Steve,
Our '02 Intrigue has been doing that since new. I haven't noticed it getting worse but then again I haven't paid close attention. The only thing that could affect the operation is the hydraulic pistons getting out of sync somehow.

Check your fluid level. I had the same problem a few years ago and it was fixed by adding some fluid. The fluid is crystal clear and it was difficult to tell if I had enough in the reservoir.

We have an 01 doing exactly the same thing. I can get it working better by keeping the seals lubricated and the sides of the slide clean.
Sometime DW pulls gently on the top of the slide as it comes in near the microwave. This seems to help. I think it is just a tight fit that is made worse if the coach is not on even ground.
It worries me too but I've never been able to find a fix.

Steve,
Two years ago, mine started showing the same symptoms. The bottom would start inward first, followed by the top. It tilted enough so the crown molding was scraping the ceiling fabric......hard! I don't think it has anything to do with whether the coach is level or not. Holland Motorhomes replaced the "synchronizing" cylinder in the system and that solved the problem. Approx. a $1300 fix.

This may sound facetious, but do you have a window open while moving your slides? I failed to leave one open while retracting the "A" slide and it jammed in exactly the same manner.
I opened a window, extended the slide (normally), and retracted it with no problems. It had never done it prior, nor has it done it since.
Operator error on my part.

We have also found that an open window makes a huge differnce.
Any non believers need to leave something near an open window while opening a slide.

Questions: Any info on these pistons - Where are they? How many are there? How are they accessed?

Questions: I seem to recall a procedure for checking the fluid level that involved the bedroom slide being in and the living room slide being out (or vice versa). Does anyone know for sure the procedure for checking the fluid level for the 2002 Intrigue? What type fluid is used?

Comment: The "sticking of the top of the slide occurs immediately upon starting to retract the living room slide so there is no time for any air compression buildup. But it's a good thought.
Thanks for all your replies and I look forward to answers to my follow-up questions.

Steve,
The synchronizing cylinder on mine is parallel with the floor under the DS couch and behind the carpeted facia of the platform that the couch sets on, just above floor level.

Our dealer Tech instructed us to open window first then the slide because the coach is so air tight moving that much air will cause a vacuume.

Opening or closing a slide moves a large volume of air. Always open a window or door.
