Robin,
Your reply to Ray's note was perfect, I was thinking about writing the same thing but you said it better then me. ZipDee is the best awning I have ever had but you can't design it for the highest wind because no one would pay the price. That goes for everything we buy. So you install what's available and we need to take some percussion's such as slow down in high wind and check our latches more often.
My wife has Velcro wraps she puts around our awning supports on the main awning to protect us in the wind and that helps.
As for the other things, warranty issues on products that the coach manufactures do not make has always been an area of contention. None of us like it but that's the way the RV industry is and always has been. When you build a house you don't go back to the builder for a bad hot water heater, so why are motorhomes any different.
The coach manufacturer does not make the engine, he just uses the best available. I just glad they don't use GM diesel.
As for customer satisfaction, it's good but there is room for improvement.
And I find that they tend to treat customer that work with them better then they treat the ones who are always yelling. I'm president of one of the Country Coach FMCA chapters and most of our members are well satisfied with their coaches as compared to other brands and most of us have had more then one CC. From what I see in my travels (5 months and 15,000 miles a year) Every company produces some bad workmanship, that should not be but we are all human. Lets just hope the problems get worked out.
My wife calls our unit the "check book sucker" because of all the time and money I spend keeping it running and looking good. These things are high maintenance items and I do not do it myself, I think coaches are much like boats and not for everyone.
Thanks for listening to my thoughts.
