Just had my Fan controller replaced on my 05 Allure with the 440 ISL. The fan operating in the failed mode operates at maximum speed resulting in Transmission and Coolant temperatures of 180 deg for both as indicated on the Sliver Leaf with the outside temperature in the min 90's. Now with a new fan controller the Transmission temp is 210 and the coolant is 200 with the outside temp in the mid 90's. What are other owners with this engine reporting? The question is what are the optimum operating temperature? What are the max temperature before I pull over and stop? John Tanzi

John,
I run 200 degrees on both trans and engine.

John,
You are now in the normal operating range. The 180s was too cool. You don't have to worry about what temp to pull over and stop as the ISL will give you all plenty of warning.

John,
My engine runs up to 203 until the thermostat opens then it drops to 197. It does this all day on the Silver Leaf. Worthless dash gauge reads 180. Transmission stays steady at 212 once it is up to temp. Trans. will go up a few degrees on long steep grades. '06 ISL.
I did change my radiator opening from the mesh to the louvers like the 2008 and newer. Seems like the fan does not work as hard, if at all.

According to Cummins the new ISl has 195 degree thermostat, and the blower fan is supposed to come
on at 205 degrees. I run between 190 and 205 depending on how fast, the grade, and outdoor temp.
Mostly about 200 + when in the 90's on the flat and level.

First of thanks for all the replies! The higher temperature has me a little on edge. Today in Santa Fe we had stop and go traffic for about for about 2 miles for 15 minutes, the transmission did to 237 at which point shifted to neutral twice, so what is an acceptable high transmission temperature ? Coolant did stay at 200, outside temp in the high 80's. I did see one posting that said is transmission did get to 217. Mine now seem to run at 217 transmission 210 coolant. The stop and go has me concerned for temperature rise for that short distance & time?
