We need to defrost our refrigerator every 2-3 weeks now-both the refrigerator and freezer sides frost up. When new (2003) it only needed to be done every 2-3 months. We just had new rubber seals put on both the refrigerator and freezer doors at Oregon Motorcoach Center but this did not solve the problem. Has anyone experienced this and found a solution? Regards,

Steve & Linda,
You indicated that you got new seals for your Dometic refrigerator and freezer doors. Our 2002 Intrigue Dometic model RM 1272 frosts up quickly on the freezer side and I wanted to replace the door seal but was told that the seal cannot be replaced separately ... I had to replace the whole door! This seemed rather extreme! You've just opened a new avenue for us to try.

Steve and Linda, We are dealing with the same problem with the NDR 1292 and have it in the shop now for trying to fix it. Since the new seals did not fix the problem, does Oregon Motorcoach have any other suggestions? I may call Dometic to see wjat they say and let you know.

Was there any resolution to this? I am having the same problem with the same refrigerator.

I just turn off our NDR1292 for a few hours (2-4?) and all the frost disappears and frige stays cool enough 45? during the process.

the refrigerator defrosts (de moistures) itself by turning on the light when the door is closed. you might check to see if this is happening. If was suggested once that a digital camera with a timer would help with this. Also, make sure the 'low moisture' setting is selected.

Greg, I have the Dometic fridge. Where would I find the 'low moisture' setting?
Thanks.

That works except for the freezer. I have a 1492 and I find that the ambient humidity has a huge effect on frost buildup especially in the freezer. As far as freezer goes, there is not a lot you can do in humid environments. If this is happening a lot in the desert there is something wrong.

Sorry for the delay. I had to stop by the storage bay and look. It is on a horizontal surface under the other controls. Open the door, stoop down and look up towards the temperature and on/off controls and you'll see it.
