I have the 370 hp Cummins, it starts out around 60psi, runs at 38-40 psi when warm and cruising down the road, idles at around 10psi or less.
Seems low to me, but a trucker I spoke with said it is in the range for the new diesels.
What kind of oil pressures are others here getting?? Bill Harris

Bill,
I have the same engine and for the 26,000 miles I've put on it my oil pressure has been right in line with what you are seeing. And for the early miles I did burn a little oil but for the past 10,000 or so it uses very little if any.

Bill, I have the same rig you have and the oil pressure reads about the same. At first it would go almost to zero when idling at operating temp, but it turned out to have a bad sender. After replacement it idles just above the 10psi level.

Bill,
Our 350 ISC used to show 90+ pounds of pressure after starting, down to the mid 40s after warm-up and I don't remember what it was at warm idle. I say "used to" because we suffered one of those Cummins oil pressure sensor failures and had to have our sensor replaced. The new sensor has only 2 readings, 0 when off and 55 when running (we have a SilverLeaf engine monitor). I questioned the Cummins service folks about this in Pomona this past Friday and was told that an 8 psi rating is the low range for the ISC (and the setting that the ECM deregulates the engine at) so the 10 PSI looks to fit into that range.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all who responded, seems mine is in line with what others are getting.

Mine is the same, worried me to death at idle, but seems normal. I was wandering what the Silverleaf folks are getting compared to our gauges?

Bill
Our oil pressure runs the same as yours and we have a Cat. Look in your engine manual, it will tell you the normal pressures.
