Most state DMVs will run a 'Title History' on a vehicle for a fee. Here in Florida the fee is $25.00.
I ran requested a "history" on my ol' Magna before I bought it and received copies of the original registration, title transfers, and even got a copy of the original bill of sale, all of which included the name and address of the previous owner...
