Recently there was some discussion about the failure of a slide to extend or retract. I had the problem of not extending and at the recent FMCA convention, I contacted HWH. Their opinion was, that if the pump runs the problem is either the solenoid or the switch. My problem was the 8 buck switch. I decided to tear it apart to see what failed. I have posted pictures in the photos section here photos/album/261140379/pic/list. (http://photos/album/261140379/pic/list.)
The third picture shows the inside of the switch. Notice that in the middle of the metal pieces there is an indentation. This is where the the little white pieces shown in the fourth should ride. Rocking the switch in either direction will cause the white pieces to put pressure on the contacts and cause the slide to either extend or retract. Notice that the piece on the left has the pointed end missing. This caused the switch to not make contact therefore your slide won't go out or in as the case may be.

Don, where do you advise one to get a replacement slide switch? From HWH? From elsewhere?
Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the photo reminder, Don.
I know that switch well. $10.48 plus shipping to Anchorage, Alaska from HWH earlier this summer.
But the problem was the PC board with Low Battery Voltage off/on Logic on it.
It had the cold solder joint that was fixed at FMCA Redmond, by Bill Mickelson. referered to me by John Davis., of La Pine. Oregon.
All is Good now..

Thanks for the photo's. I had to replace my Living Room Slide rocker switch a couple of times for the same reason. Didn't take it apart but your photo's now make it clear why it failed. I now carry an extra switch.
