Friends,
Do you have an opinion or experience driving from Lewiston, ID via Washington SR 195 to Coeur d'Alene ID using Idaho SR 195 to Coeur d'Alene??
Thanks, Mike 03 Allure 1st Ave. #30898

Mike,
I have driven this route several times. The only difficult part is the climb out of Lewiston. Otherwise no problem. There is a great RV park in Clarkston, WA. called Granite Lake RV. Right on the Snake River, behind the Costco.

And to add to the information, we have a cousin who has resided in Lewiston for a long time. Here's what he has to say, and he's an RVer also. Mike and Mary 06 Inspire 51784
SR 195 between Lewiston and Coeur d' Alene has undergone quite a bit of improvement in the last three years or so. Most of it is now divided highway with access and there are stretches of two lane road near the Coeur d' Alene area. Personally, I would not be concerned taking any length of RV on it. And for those interested, there is a casino on this route near Worley with a world class golf course called Circling Raven, often times referred to as Circling Buzzard by those of us who have been beaten up by it.

Friends, I just re-read my original question to you and realize I made a typo. I meant to ask the difference between traveling from Lewiston, ID via Washington's SR-195 versus going up through Idaho via Idaho's SR-95
Thanks to all who gave me the info on SR-195, what do you think about SR-95??

Another interesting thing to be aware of on this route are signs of glacial flood of lake Missoula. Many are mind boggling.

Mike, You are saying SR195, and the guys seem to be referring to US95. If you take SR195, it will take you North to Spokane, Wa and into Coeur d Alene via I-90. This is a good way to go, if you want to avoid the Lewiston grade which as mentioned before is a pretty good pull, but I've done it in several different RV's and had no problem. US 95 is now a very good road except for getting through Moscow, Id. which is the only slowdown for the entire trip.
I don't know of any Idaho SR195.
Regards, and happy traveling.

Hi Mike,
I emailed by cousin in Lewiston, and here is his response! Good trip to you!!!
Either route out of Lewiston is ok. Depends mostly what people are looking for. Going up the Washington side, you pass through Uniontown, Colton, Pullman and Spokane to get there. The Idaho route is more direct. The first town is Moscow, then mostly farm country. Actually, you go through farm country both ways. As far as roads go, now that the Idaho route is improved, it is a better choice. The Washington route is two lane until you nearly reach Spokane and then you are on I-90 to Coeur d' Alene. Yes, the hill out of Lewiston is a grind, but it doesn't take long to climb it, even with an RV. It's been a four lane divided highway for about 35 years now. Flatlanders from the Midwest who are accustomed to a more mild terrain get a little nervous on the hill, but there are runaway turnouts that truckers use when their brakes fail going down the hill. Even that doesn't happen very often.
