Title: 2004 Recalls

We had two 2004 Intrigues and both had a steering gearbox mount recall. The first was at a Home Coming Rally with our 36'. We were visited by Holland Mfg of MI (not Holland RV sales as advertised in RV magazines). Apparently the structural bracing of the steering gearbox was inadequate and they had a produced a kit that consisted of a heavy-duty reinforcement plate with a few shims and mounting hardware. It took their two techs about 45 min to do the install. (Apparently Holland was the mfg of this part(s) of the steering gear and the "package" came from them to CC, who installed it as a unit assembly.)
Later, when we had traded for a 38' coach, we acquired the kit from Holland and had it sent directly to Cummins Rocky Mountain for them to install. It took Smitty about two hours to do that install.
I would suspect that most if not all 2004's have had this addition already done, but it certainly bears investigation by someone knowledgeable with what they are looking for.
I do not know if this recall was applicable to any other models other than Intrigues.
Sorry, but I don't know who to contact at Holland anymore and we no longer have our records on those coaches.

The person I talked to at Holland was Becky Horning, 1-888-396-6501.
There was also a recall on the Hydro-Hot. The numbers affected are HM/E 02-529 thru HM/ E05-0374. The phone number I have is 1-800-685-4298.

I've owned mine since November, 2006. I have not received a steering related recall. Did that occur prior to then?

Thanks,

Hi Nate - Looks like it started in 2004. Note also two other recalls for my 04 vintage (Aqua Hot and a Rubber LP line to the Stove Top). I'm going to call the Holland number, an see if they keep records by VI# on what was repaired. Let you know what I find out. (Will also do a visual inspection under the coach, to see if I can spot that the recall repairs were accomplished. But will not be able to look for a few days...)

Best,

I too had questions about the Holland recall. Holland does keep a registry of the updated units. If you crawl under and look, it will be obvious if yours needs the reinforcement kit. The Aqua-Hot and LP line are news to me. Would you please elaborate.

?
Tom,

Going from memory I believe the AquaHot/HydroHot recall was to replace the combustion chamber with one of a heavier material. This will not be easy to check visually. The LP line was plumb stupid on somebody's part. The burners were connected to the gas distribution piping at the back with rubber hose. It ran right under the stove burners. The recall was to replace it with copper tubing. When I had mine replaces the hose was nearly burned through. If you lift up the stove top and the tube coming to the regulator is copper then you are good to go. If it is rubber get it replaced.

Nate, I think the recall was done on mine within the first year. That was 2004. I cannot imagine that the original owner let the recall go by. I received constant mailing on the suspension recall that is the subject of this note and also the HydroHot recall. You can tell if the HH recall was done by looking for a round yellow sticker on the HH unit.
A final note. This was not presented as a steering recall but as a suspension recall.

Sir Don - strikes thru again! Thk's Don.
These were the two others. I did remember that the pictures of the front RoadKings had lots of the suspension in the shot. I found the recall posting PDF from Holland (of course, it was on this boards files). Looks like my recall was needed, and it was done.
I'll still need to check the other two, so thanks for saying how to check them.

Sir Don?? Well I am working on King Don but I think I have a long way to go with so much stiff opposition. Well thanks for knighting me anyway but I have to point out that it was George that mentioned the way to tell if the HydroHot had been done. Well almost. I had mine done at a franchised CC dealer at the time. They showed me the combustion chamber and it had started to split at the weld on the bottom end. They replaced it with the heavier combustion chamber but my HydroHot has no yellow sticker on it. Their bad. In fact I was unaware of the yellow sticker.
Does you coach have the marker lights on the rear sides right about the level of the tail lights. If so that is another recall that you don't have to worry about.

Don,

I received the marker lights recall sometime in 2008. I had the parts shipped to the shop that made the installation. They submitted a bill for $200 in labor, but after six months had never been paid. I called what I think was the last person at CC just before they turned out the lights (don't remember the name) who, wonder of wonders, got a check cut! The shop was happy.
I expect the suspension and HydroHot modifications were done before I bought the coach, but I'll have a look anyhow.

Nate,

The six months seemed par for the course even when CC was at it's peak. Twice I had to pay the shop because they had experience with CC's payment history. One of them I never did get reimbursed even though they agreed to cover it under warrantee. Fortunately it was not a lot of money. Getting the check at the last minute is nothing short of a miracle.
Hopefully your HydroHot has the yellow sticker that George mentioned if the recall was done. It is going to make checking it out a whole lot easier unless you have copies of the recall paper work.
