Just arriived in Creede, Colorado for a CC Rally, put all four slides out and thought everything was well. I then started hearing a slight poping/clicking coming from the number 3 bedroom slide, the small one that houses the dresser, and the slide started to creep in all by itself. After 30-45 minutes it had retracted itself about a foot. All other slides are doing fine. Any ideas?

R.D. my standard is to check fuild level first. I use a straw with paper on it so I can see the line. Second look under coach for any leaks. My unit just rupurtured the line at the fitting and was leaking out onto ground. Small amounts at first. I would check the sycronizer cyclinders just on top of the propane tank. My leak was behind those cyclinders. You can get at it from the other door, just have someone hold it up and bring good flashlight. My slides were still woking as I replaced the fuild. However, I had to wait to get home as no one I could find had the HWH cripping tool or knew what I was talking about.
Love Creede be sure you go to the show, it was great and not what we expected given the size of the town.

Good Luck.

Thanks Jim. The creep has slowed to about 2 inches per hour after running all slides in and out several times. It seems to have stopped at about half way in. I cannot find a leak anywhere and the other two HWH slides are working fine. Tomorrow I will check it out more thoroughly. I was kind of beat today after a long drive. It will be interesting to see (and hear) the thing creep tonight, if it does. Hopefully it is done. My wife doesn't like creepy things...... This is our third trip to Creede and we love this area. We are going to the theater next week. Thanks for your help.

Had the same issue with no external fluid leak. Turned out to an internal leak. In the front driver's side compartment (electrical bay), on the floor towards the rear of the coach is the pump unit. Mine had a black cylindrical metal unit with two wires coming from the top facing forward and a silver one facing backwards. The silver one was bad, allowing fluid pressure to bleed off and the slide to partially retract. Just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one.
The slide was in when they changed mine and only a small amount of fluid was lost in the process.

Al, in the bay you are talking about I see the black cylindrical units with a little pointy deal sticking out the end? Are you talking about the wires being bad and you had to replace the silver wire? Unscrew the old what and screw in the new what? I really appreciate your help Al and it sounds like you may have had the same problem. Was yours the same slide, the small one with the dresser in it? Thanks.

The front electrical bay holds the HWH slide manifold. If you have 4 slides you should see 8 of those solenoids. The older ones are black the newer are silver. It is quite common for the older solenoids to leak pressure. Depending on which one of the pair leaks the slide will creep in or out.

Thank you John. I'm fairly sure that is the culprit. I will change out the retract and extend solenoids when we get home in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for your help.

I have an 06 Allure Hood River and had the problem on the same slide (bedroom dresser passenger side). In my front bay, there were only two solenoids. The one facing away from you was the one that was replaced solving the problem. Unplug the wires at the connector (12 inches from solenoid on mine), place a rag under the solenoid, unscrew the solenoid using a pipe wrench or pliers at the serrations on the end of the solenoid, and screw the new unit in place. Save $50-150 in labor depending upon how much "diagnostic time" is involved.

Hi,

We have one HWH mechanism on the P/S bedroom slide. It appears the slave cylinders are slightly out of sync. The back corner doesn't retract all the way. Photo is here:

Anyone else experience this? Anyone solve the problem of getting the cylinders to work properly together? Just curious about solutions. Thanks.

Best - Scott

According to HWH, the cylinders automatically equalize each other when operating correctly. We had the same problem this past Summer and HWH replaced the one faulty cylinder.

Roger - Thanks. I was afraid of this answer. That being "faulty cylinder". Any idea of what was faulty with the cylinder? And what was involved with the repair. It sounds major and expensive. Any detailed information you (or others) can bring into the light would be most appreciated. Many thanks again.

We didn't discuss the actual cylinder mechanism, but the "seal" was faulty and even though we had no leakage of any fluid, we did have a slight "creep" to the slide and the uneven closing as you described. As with anyone who has been to HWH can confirm, they are very customer oriented, had the coach virtually all day, checked all our systems, changed out the cylinder, as well as took care of the potential heat problem behind the tag axel; as I recall, the cost for everything was right around 800$. Extremely reasonable for everything they did and we were totally pleased with all they completed.
