Two years ago I had to replace my tag tires due to alignment problem and early wearing. At the time I had Dickman Tire put two Goodyear G670 295/22.5 on the front and the OEM Toyo steer tires on the tag axle. Now I need to replace the remaining 6 Toyo's due to age and I think I would like to go with Michelin XZE. I need opinions/facts on putting the 295/22.5 Goodyear tires on the tag and putting Michelin XZE 12R22.5 on the steer and drive axles. The Goodyear's appear to be about 1/2" shorter than the Michelin's.

IMHO, Goodyear G670's are terrible steer tires. Rotate them back and put Michelins on the front.

I have the setup you describe. I put two GY 295 670 on tags and have the Mich XZE 295 on the drive tires. Steers are XZE 315s. Have driven about 6,000 miles without any problems.

Hi Bob, I do not have a tag, but just replaced my Toyos with the Michelin XZA2 295 80R 22.5. Can't give you much feedback, but so far I like the look and feel. There is a spcl price on Michelins for CC owners, Hope this helps, Hal

I have the Goodyear G670s on all wheels, had them since July 2006 with no issues, thus far, I switched from the original Toyo tires which also had not worn a great deal but due to age I decided to replace them. Maybe folks who are having issues with Goodyear tires actually have chassis issues that need addressing. Just my experience has been good, I have roughly 20000 miles on the Goodyear tires.

I am happy with my replacement Toyos, and they were about $1500 less (for six) than Michelin. I would have gone Michelin otherwise. Good tire people are Les Schwab, specifically the shop in Oakridge Oregon, owner name Tracey. They not only got me a great price, they sold my old tires and gave me a check for $300. Worked out to about $500 a tire, mounted and balanced.
