We are heading into Canada on Saturday or Sunday from the Detroit area and driving to Montreal, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. I have a fairly good data base of the Wal-Marts in Canada, but I have been unable to find out if overnighting is allowed (at least in general). Does anyone know if they allow overnighting? I only have one night where it would come in very handy not to have to find an RV park - probably in the general area of Toronto.

Several years ago, I spent a night at a Walmart in Toronto.
It was an older Walmart with a tight parking lot. There was about a 12 foot tall retaining wall below the street level. I parked next to that wall.
Don't know my way around Toronto well enough to tell you where it was.

We live in Ann Arbor and belong to an Ontario FMCA Chapter. We go to Canada multiple times a year. We have asked two different Canadian WalMart managers. Both said WalMart Canada does not allow parking lot camping. However, if you're just overnighting the expressway service plazas are quite nice and do allow overnighting.

We live an hour and a half north west of Toronto, and have a Wal-Mart in our town (which town doesn't ) and see RV's there quite often, so I am not aware that there is a general rule in Canada about overnight parking at the Wal-Mart stores. I have stayed at one near Cambridge Ontario along Hwy 401 and had no problem- arrived late and left early. We have stayed at Wal-Marts in Winnipeg Manitoba, Regina and Yorkton in Saskatchewan , and Medicine Hat Alberta, without incident. Another choice are the Casinos across Canada and we have had no issue at any of those either. Hope this helps.

Based on Ron's response, I checked the web and it appears he is correct. I retract my earlier statement. If you go to:

You will see that the vast majority of Canadian WalMarts allow overnight parking. We must have just gotten a couple that didn't.

In 5 years of RVing in all 10 Provinces and The Yukon, I can't remember ever getting the boot. Whitehorse had more RVs than cars, while not quite but the most I have ever seen in any Walmart. Can't say the same for California. Have traveled from N Calif to where we are now in Malibu and haven't stayed in one yet. In fact got thrown out by the local cops in Marina. Only 1 small sign posted in the parking lot.
