I own a '97 Intrigue w/a 325 cummins - engine & coach have under 50k mi. On our last 2200 mi trip my needle on my oil guage stayed @ around 50lb @ cruising speed. My guage has a small red light in it and occasionally would flicker on and off. This happened about 3 times during the trip. (new oil & filt chng b4 we left) Oil level stays full. I am more prone to believe an analog guage than a light even if they are probably on the same sending unit. My 1st inclination is to change the sending unit & see what happens b4 I start paying $100+ per hour to have it checked - just order the sending unit from Cummins (I hope).
Anyone have a swimilar experience & fix? bojangles5169

Glen,

I think that if you looked at the wiring schematics, you will find two or possibly three oil pressure sending units. There will be one for the guage and one for the idiot light. The third, if there is one, might be for the engine computer. It is possible that one of a two switch setup supplys the computer. Some way, somehow, there is oil pressure data being sent to the computer so that if there is low oil pressure, the engine will be shut down.

Try making sure all the grounds for the gauges are clean and tight and then check the wire connection at the sending unit or units.

Same Problem on another Brand, Replaced sender and Cummins should help you on this one.I had to borrow a factory wrench to remove and replace sender and make sure you replace the O-Ring or copper washer that comes with it. The sender is a duel signal type! Have Model and engine S/N also. To find the sender I pulled for test the plug with wires at the sender and watched to OPG. Ken 99 Allure 30356
