I got this off the Diesel Group...
Yahoo Groups is now collecting marketing information in yet another way, unless you turn it off:
"Yahoo is now using something called "Web Beacons" to track Yahoo Group users around the net and see what you're doing - similar to cookies. Take a look at their updated privacy statement:

About half-way down the page, in the section "Outside Network", you'll see a little "click here" link that will let you opt-out of their new method of snooping. Once you have clicked that link, you are opted out. Notice the "Success" message at the top of the next page. Hi Everyone,
It's time to hit the road and I need to check the air in my tires.
Is there an easy way to check the inner tire? I tried getting down and looking inside but didn't see the connector. What am I looking for?
Any ideas?
Thanks, Cookie

We purchased a special tire gauge from Les Schwab Tire in Junction City when we picked up our Country Coach at the factory. The gauge has a "straight push on end" and also a 180 "straight pull back end". This is different from all the standard truck gauges and is designed especially to fit in the small rim hole of the Accuride and Alcoa rims used on Country Coaches. It makes checking the pressure on all the tires very easy and accurate. The professional truck gauge we bought from Camping world was twice the price and broke the first time we used it. The gauge from Les Schwab is the same type of stick gauge that the mechanics at Les Schwab use thousands of times a year and has a reputation of being very reliable and durable.
And for your information Cookie, the inside dual tire valve stem should be 180 degrees (directly opposite) from the valve stem for the outside dual tire. Look in the hole with a flash light and you should be looking directly at the end of the stem. It is dark in there and sometimes I even have a hard time seeing it. Look at your front tire stem, and you'll have a good idea about what you're looking for. The inside dual does not normally have a cover on the stem, so you can just push the tire gauge on it and get a reading.
This is unlike the front tire, where you probably have a small cover to unscrew before taking a pressure reading.
Hope this helps
Robert

Why don't you get some straight, solid valve stem extensions that will come through the outer wheels in a rubber grommet so it is easy to check the inner tires - the most important tires on your coach? Visit a specialty truck accessory store and they will have them. Don't get the flexy things!

Cookie, I only know of two reasonable ways to handle this. One is to buy the specially designed gauge from Schwab, in which case I would install the type valve cap that has a ball in the end providing for checking pressure without removing it. This is the system recommended by the experts. The other system I use is to install the straight extension with the rubber grommet. I moved these from one coach to another and have had no leaks in over four years use.
The important thing is to use the grommets which prevent the extension from vibrating and loosening, thereby causing leaks.

FYI - Napa makes the same gauge and it was in stock. Not cheap, about 26.00 bucks, but it's long and gets the job done.

Tom,
Do you have part number or something so I will know what to ask for at NAPA? I hope to go to the factory in July and will visit Schwab, but would like something before then.
Thanks

At the Life on Wheels conference in Moscow Idaho, valve stem extensions were discussed in depth, and it was universally recommended NOT to use any type of extension. It has been proven over and over again that coaches with extenders run a much higher risk of leaks that result in tire overload and blowouts. It is so easy to check the pressure with the correct gauge - why run the risk of a catastrophic tire failure because of an optional piece of equipment that you don't really need?

Cookie,
You might also want to consider the Smart Tire system, it's great and you don't need to check any of your six tire on a regular basis. We just check them about once every 3 months to make sure the system is working correctly.
The system cost about $800 installed but it is great. Of course it only does 6 tires so if you have a tag like we do you need to check the tag manually but thats ok because the tag is not as important as the drive axle. It's always interesting to see the pressure rise with the temperature change and you can tell if your tires are heating up because you are not carring the right air pressure. It's an accessory I would not be without.

Sorry Ree, there is no part number on it. It's about 15" long, painted black and has a straight end for the inner wheel and a 45 angle for the outside wheel.

Hi Cookie,
We purchased the straight tire pressure chuck and gauge while at the rally in Vegas for $40.00 (total). I guess you missed that seminar. GGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Haven't used them yet so can't comment on ease of use.
Did your coach already have a quick disconnect installed and a set of hoses?
Hope you enjoyed the "Keys."
