I am buying a 2007 Inspire and Carfax did not recognize the VIN #. Has this happened to anybody else? Suggestions?

That IS curious. I assume we all have license plates and as such our VIN's are registered with the respective state. If it were me I'd check with the state of last register for your vehicle.

Maybe the vehicle has never been licensed to an individual owner. Does the dealer have title to the vehicle and it's never been owned by an individual? Lazy Days had a 2000 Intrigue on their lot earlier this year which had never been licenses to an individual, had something like 5,000 miles on the odometer.

Are you sure Carfax includes a motorhome registry?

Good question. I have sent them a note with the VIN to see what they say. I know other CC VINs I have seen posted work.

We have a truck dealership and know that Carfax doesn't maintain a database of heavy duty trucks.

If my memory serves me correctly, CarFax does not track "heavy" vehicles, trailers, special purpose, etc.

I think something is fishy. I have a Carfax report on my coach and on the previous Class C we owned. Double check the VIN #.

Class C's are not Class A's. A Class A chassis is an entirely different thing.

Sorry for the short post....
The big difference is weight. A Class A is a heavier vehicle. That is why some Class C's show up. Plus most Class C chassis are from a major vehicle manufacturer, like Ford, Chevy, etc. These vehicles have a conforming VIN. Most Class A chassis do not have a conforming VIN.

Mikee,
I was not clear in my earlier post. I own #31043, a 2004 Allure and I have a Carfax report on that coach. It is in my files. I also have a Carfax report on the Class C coach I used to own before I sold it and bought the Allure. I again suggest that the VIN for the 07 Inspire John is considering was entered incorrectly. I had no problems pulling up mine.

CarFax got to me and said that they do not cover RVs and although their database may have a few entries, they would be incomplete. They recommended contacting the state DMV.
Thank you for the helpful ideas.
