I have a 2004 country coach Intigue ovation '42. It has a very small compartment to fit one of these units in and I am looking for ideas of what others have done to fit a permanently mounted system. The box is about 15.5 inches long, 11 inches wide and 7 inches high. Before I order what i think will fit I wanted get the opinions and photos of that other with experience in this have done.
I have been searching the forum for references to other installs but could not find any applicable photos. Perhpas I am not looking in the right place.

I woud appreciate feedback.

I installed a portable sani con on my 2006 Allure and am happy with it. An added benefit is that I have stored the old hose system in the designated storage area in the wet compartment and therefore have a back up in the event the sani system dies. I still use the original system when I am going to be in a location for an extended (weeks or month) time. It does take some time for the sani con system to empty the tanks.

I agree with Dan - be sure to keep the original equipment. Our Sani-con works well but if I still occasionally use the old hose method to get a better flush through the tank.
I would send pics of our installation but our coach is 1500 miles away.
I think that the slower draining process which the sani-con gives doesn't flush the tank as well.
Having said that, I would now always have sani-con for the convenience and cleanliness it provides.

Thank you both for your input. Makes sense. So I should consider something that is not difficult to swap out for the bigger line.

I just posted 3 pictures of my sani-con installation in my 04 Inspire. The pictures are in the second folder (02 Intrigue towing)I guess I didn't start a new folder. I carry a 3" hose also but have never used it. I might switch to the big hose if I have to dump at dump stn where there might be people waiting. I like the sani-con for use at home where I can dump into my septic system. I ran the power from the power gear leveling pump in the next bay to the rear. I've been using the sani-con for three years with no problems.

Lewis what is the red and white item in your picture? The end on my sanicon does not look like that and I have experienced several instances (especially at dump stations) where the threads on the sanicon end will not engage with the treads or lack of threads where I am trying to hook up to.
I have looked at trying to come up with a new end for the sanicon that is more flexible or gives me a different hook up alternative.

Dallas,

That red fitting is an adapter that came with my sani-con system. I bought mine before Thetford bought out Sani-con. Now the discharge ends appear to be a black molded plastic piece. Mine was originally a 45 deg elbow but I changed it to 90 deg because it always seemed to be sticking up in the way at the sewer connection.

We have a much older coach and use the "Sewer Solution" http://www.sewersolution.com/basic.htm (http://www.sewersolution.com/basic.htm) .
It has no electric motor to install and repair and no moving parts to replace but does result in a 1" discharge hose to handle and store vs a 3" slinky.
The SS will pump the discharge on a slight uphill and with the easy addition of some 1" PVC pipe can go 50' or more.
I have found it convenient and reliable over the past 3 years. It fits easily in a similar type space in our compartment. We also still carry the 3" slinky for dump station speed.
If you need dramatic uphill pumping or long distance pumping, the SS would not be a solution.

Thanks for posting the pictures Lewis. You dump station box is bigger than mine. CC made a very small box for the 2004 intrigue.

If you have a very small dump station, this could be a difficult option to implement because I think you would want to keep the discharge hose attached to the pump and store it in this compartment as well. It's too messy to be putting it on and off each time. We have 20 ft. of hose and I wouldn't want any less. Coiled up, it takes a fair bit of space. If you could pipe it into a nearby bay, that may work.
Regarding the discharge end of the hose, we use a PVC valve with an elbow and a short piece of pipe on it. It has never been a problem.

I had a look at the pictures which Lewis posted. Ours is done in a similar manner except that instead of the 3" hose connected to the outlet, I used one of those clear plastic 3" elbows with the twist lock ends on it (RV parts supplier). The elbow has a 3/4" drain on the bottom if needed. For the connection from the outlet of the 3" elbow to the 1- 1/2" pump inlet, I went to a hardware store and purchased a clamped rubber reducing coupling (Fernco, Dallas, etc.). these are common plumbing couplings. It worked perfectly. From then on, it's just an adapter and a short 1 1/2" hose into the pump between the elbow and the pump and some discharge hose with a valve on the outlet end of it. The discharge hose is available at RV stores as well.
I hooked up the electrical to a nearby source through a toggle switch.
It's quite simple.

The kit type of pump which attaches directly onto the 3" outlet didn't work on our coach because there isn't enough room below the outlet.

Excellent Richard,

Even though I can't see what you did, I like the idea of the rubber clamped reducers that you talk about. I have seen them before. That should shorten the macerator down to a workable length to attach inside the
I am dealing with a total of 15 inches less 2 inches for the hook up pipe. Between the pictures that Lewis posted with the measuring tape and your explaination I think I have one inch to spare, maybe enough to get a 90 degree flat blade screw driver behind it to free up the rotor blade IF I need it. I may have to change the cross over pipe and drill it into another part of the adapter.
I bought the exact system you have on your coach and Lewis's from a guy who bought a lot of them from the CC auction in May off EBay tonight. $375. One left I guess for anyone else that wants to put one on their coach.

I purchased a Sanicon system from someone on ebay that had purchased it at the Country Coach Auction and it fit perfectly without having to screw anything down or cut the pipe. I was amazed. The 2004 Intrigue Ovation has a very small sewer hook up area so I figured this was not going to work to put a semi-permanent sanicon install. I was wrong. It fit in so snug that there is not need to scre anything down. Nothing moves and it takes less than 10 seconds to remove the entire system so I can hook up a normal hose if needed.
See my pictures of the install on the photo page under 2004 ovation upgrades.

I also installed a quick disconnect gas line with a shut off before the connection so that I can run a 12 foot gas line to my barbecue from the main tank to one of the slidouts that the barbeque will perch on temporary. Will post pictures of that later on the same album.
Another upgrade that I will be working on tomorrow is a garbage disposal. Still need to figure out where to move the BOSE Woofer under the sink cabinet since it had to moved over to make room for the dishwasher and now it is in the way of the the garbage disposal. Perhaps the BOSE 123 system is history.
