I am trying to get to the fan motor in the dash in my 2000 Allure. It makes noise at all speeds, but gets worse as the speed increases. I cant see anything in the squirrel cages and plan on replacing the motor if I can get to it. I have the hoses labeled and disconnected and the cover off. It looks as if I have to take out all the screws around the metal shroud before I can lift the cover to the motor and the two squirrel cages. Has anyone else done this?
I am sure all this was assembled and put into place before the dash was installed. I can't believe they made it so difficult. If you used a trained monkey to reach around back to get to the screws, I'll pay to have him shipped to me.

Thanks for any help.

Yes Sir that's what the CC people did...build the dash around the black box' The only way and I assume it's the same as the Affinity black box is to remove it completely from the coach. This of course means removing the freon, clamping off the coolant lines, and label everything. The black box then can be split on the bench and give you access to both fan blowers. Label the blowers as one is clockwise and the other counter clock wise.
I have done it and took 3 days about 20 plus hours. That included the trip to a/c shop for freon removal. As soon as the freon was removed the line was opened at dash and capped.to prevent contamination. (important to do this) I have heard the a/c Texas company who built all the units is out of business so you might need some help getting blowers. Don't panic.... there are company's that rebuild your old ones.
Feel free to email me at Boateral@... (Boateral@...) if you need.

The simple answer is NO. The case (box) has to be split to get to the blowers and there is not enough room to remove the bottom screws from the case. The blowers are on the back side of the case when you are looking at it. I can send you pictures if you want.

Thanks for sharing your hands on Info. Our Fellow owner Gene has an 00 Allure and hopefully will read this. Bummer on the blower having two Squrral cage fans. Like a truck type unit. Ken 99 Allure 30356
