Bob, when we bought our coach in 2001 we had Mac McCoy (one of the RV fire gurus) get us a fire suppression system which if I recall, we had CC install per instructions given by the company that made the system.
I guess it just gives us peace of mind, although the chances of having an engine fire with a diesel are slim.
They are two "extinguishers" that have some kind of temperature sensor that will go off if the temp gets above it. There is a small box on our dash that indicates if it's been activated, along with two test buttons.
If you are like we are and like to be overprepared for something like this, it's a good system. If you aren't really concerned...extra expense.

Yes, we bought 2 from Mac McCoy years ago. One Suppression System is mounted in engine compartment and one is mounted in generator compartment. Fortunately neither has even been needed, but its worth the peace of mind.,

Bob,

Last year, in a span of two months, we had two friends with diesels lose their coaches to engine fires. At the FMCA Indio rally in January this year we purchased a system from Mac the fire man. It was easy to install in our 2007 Inspire. Mac also suggested installing a fire/smoke alarm on the ceiling in the bedroom, which I did. Like insurance, I hope to never need it gives us some peace of mind after seeing what fires can do to a coach.

We have some good friends that have had fires and lost their coaches and everything they owned in them. I think it's time to spend a little money for a system.
Thank you all for you inputs on this!
