Has there been issues with the radiator leaking due to vibration, bad installation, poor design or??? This is CAT C9 installation.

Hekanyorkies: Yes, there are radiator leaking issues with the coaches with C9's and with many other engines. The installed rads are aluminum and just don't stand up. There is a good chance that you will have to replace it. We had to on our C9.
BTW - it is customary on this site to end your posts with the model, year and coach number of your coach.

There is a history of problems. The aluminum just isnt strong enough to withstand the vibration, nor is it sturdy enough to span the distance between the tank mounting without sagging some in the middle. The sagging causes the tubes to pull out of the header, and this creates a leak. My company actually builds a Steel Tank Copper core replacement that has a much more ridgid mounting to help solve these problems. If you have any more questions or want to know about thee availability feel free to give me a call. My number is 541-367-2991 and my name is Andrew. I have dealt with multiple people on this forum and always with great results, so hopefully I help take care of you too. Thanks

Thanks Richard. Is there any info out there as to who to go to replace the radiator to be able to buy one. Or is there manufacturer, make model info somewhere? I did look through all of the manuals that came with the coach and did not find anything to lead me down that path. Would there be some tag on the radiator to be able to get that information off of?

Phil,

Some folks on here have had luck with Brice Thomas in Gadsen, Alabama. I understand they can supply just about any radiator one needs.

You can get their contact info at their web site:

Phil: What part of the country are you in? I can only help with west coast options.

Last year i had radiator problem - Carrier and sons gave me the phone number for the shop who made the radiator for cc. They had the drawings for our 05 intrigue. I had them replace it with a copper radiator which should last.

Hekanyorkies,

Yes, my C-9 radiator had to be replaced and fortunately although past warranty, Country Coach paid for CAT to replace it. I talked to someone at the FMCA rally in Oregon this summer and they were very knowledgeable about the CC radiator issues and have handled many.

At least someone in the business to try.

Suggest also contacting Brice Thomas Radiator in Gadsden, AL., www. CGJ.com (http://www. CGJ.com) or 256-546-4613. I found Joey Stinson in sales to be quite knowledgeable and helpful, or talk to any of the owners: Phillip, Jerry or Eric. These folks re-cored my aluminum Charge Air Cooler and worked with Vista-Pro radiators to make a new copper core for my radiator that Brice Thomas was able to weld on to my existing tanks. Saved me considerable money on each and I got their one year mileage unlimited warranty on parts and labor which was more than I could find on other manufacturers' new equipment. They are a 3rd generation family business which seems to enjoy a reputation for quality at reasonable prices. They also held the price to the original estimate even though more repair time was required. They complete most repair jobs within a couple days. Good luck.

P.S. Thanks to all who recommended Brice Thomas to me.
