Now that recall letters are hitting the mail boxes, some now say there is a six weeks back log on getting the latest recall parts. Reports are also saying that the phone lines are real busy. Once your frig and cooling system serial numbers are registered with Norcold for the recall, Norcold is advising that the frig has to be turned off until the recall is performed. If not, they will not be responsible for any damage if the frig catches fire.

Chuck,[/b]
Somehow I missed this. What is the recall about and who is affected?

George,
Around Nov 1,2010, Norcold issued a second recall on their 1200 series 4 door frig's going back to 1999. The switch kit on the first recall was not operating correctly to shut down the frig if the temps on the boiler tube got too hot. See message # 65309 for details on how the second recall works. Many of us on the monacoers group are now installing a halon fire extingusher in the outside frig compartment. Mac, the fire guy, who has put on coach fire demonstrations at the FMCA International Rally, sells them for around $190.00. Several members on the monacoers group including myself have experienced a frig fire. A couple of those folks coaches burned down to the frame. You can email me at elmerfletcher@... (elmerfletcher@...) for the installation instructions. Visit www.norcold.com/recall
