I suspect that this topic has been covered before, but I can not find the answer.
How do you change the air filter on a 2004 Intrigue 40' (Suite Sensation) with the Caterpillar C12?
I had it in at Peterson Cat in Eugene and after an hour of trying, I told them to give up.
I know it is not easy, but can anyone tell me the secret? Do you go through the closet floor? Drop the engine?!

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know the answer to this, but I just had full service at Peterson Cat in Eugene, and they couldn't change mine either.

Glenn

I had my filter changed by McKay Truck and RV Center, 6225 Old Salem RD NE, Albany, OR 7321. 541 928-3331.

Super nice people and seemed to be very knowledgeable.

I provided the filter and they charged $103.80 for the labor.

While my coach is the "Intrigue Ovation" it does have the C-12.
This is the 2nd time in 96,000 miles I have had it changed. Neither company (other company is out of business) had any problems that I know of.

Glenn,

On my C-12, it takes about 3 minutes: On the passenger side of the engine, crawl underneath near the corner of the coach. You will see the filter can and a wingnut on the bottom. It is about a foot across. Hard to miss. Undo the nut, drop the filter, stick a new one in, put the wingnut on and tighten firmly. That's it. Maybe yours is different.

If it is like my 2004 intrigue ovation with a C12, It will take 30 minutes to get to it even though you can see it and touch it when facing toward the engine. I have to remove the air tube that goes accross the back of the engine from the filter to the turbo charger and then undo the two straps that hold down the filter canister and pull the canister out. Not an easy and fast thing to do but it is do able.
My filter was so clean that I ended up just putting back in after running the air hose inside of it.
I have no idea but perhaps the filter is in different places for Cat powered intigues in 2004. My opinion is that mine was not intended to be checked often since it is quite alot of metal straps, hangers and 4 inch tubes to disconnect.

Don't forget fresh sponge gaskets and make sure the replacement is identical and fits tight. My setup is same even with different engine. The first time I changed mine a truck supply outfit gave me a replacement filter based on their catalog which was not identical to the one removed. Best to bring the old filter in and compare it with the replacement before you buy.

Well, sounds like on the Intrigue, getting to the air filter is more intriguing. Wonder why they did that?
