First, thanks to all who have provided great information and financials to bring us more up-to-date.
My comments are based on belonging to 4 FMCA 'motorhome related' clubs as well as being an officer in one. Bureaucratic and By-law issues aside, and acknowledging the overall good work of the 'Office,' my thoughts are -
The other 3 FMCA Clubs I belong to have annual membership fees in the $15-$25 range. Rallies usually cost around $100 less than a CCI rally.
Those clubs function in a comparable way to CCI with similar activities, benefits, communications, etc. One of them has over 1,000 members. Hummm.
As most have probably noted, the CCI office personnel and office expenses are over 80% of the budget. The other clubs are managed by volunteer Boards of 10 or so people. Why can't CCI do this as well, rather than having over 1,000 members paying an additional $50-$60 for the luxury of an office?
All we need are about 10 folks out of 1,000+ to step up and do some work for the group. In the one 1,000+ club I alluded to, volunteer Board members do, however, get some limited benefits - 50% off club & FMCA rally fees, 2-3 nights of free rally site camping fees before rallies (when Board meetings take place). As a Board member in one of the other clubs, I find these are reasonable benefits for the volunteer work done.
Which raises another question. Do our current Board members get benefits? If so, what?
Surely there are 10 folks out there willing to step up to be a volunteer Board member?
