I have a 1999 Magna 40' with a C-10 Cat and I want to tow my Bobcat and dual axel dump trailer which weighs about 10,000 pounds from south Florida back up to Missouri.
My question is, can the Allison 6 speed (and drive train) handle this load going over Mont Eagle Pass or am I pushing it too hard? This coach has been trouble-free since we owned it and I don't want to break it.
Tongue weight and hitch are all fine just worried about the drive train and cooling.

Thanks,
Lisa

Will need to beef up the hitch on the CC. Only rated at 5000#. Other then that, should be no problem. Tow a 9000# plus with our 97 Magna. Have friend with the same year as yours, he tows over 10,000#. Use normal precautions such as manuel downshift when needed and make sure you have working trailer brakes. The coach cannot stop itself and that extra load. I finally installed a air over electric control to get good trailer brake function. The best all electrical just did not cut it for me in my coach. It may have been defective from day one, never sure, work and then didn't work. The air over electric works all the time. Trailer brakes make a big difference. Coach brakes are maxed out with just the coach. Just be sure to have an experienced hitch company beef up the hitch.

I have a 2000 Magna with the C-10. I have been towing a Jeep Unlimited (4500 lbs scale weight) for five years and have not had any problems. I have towed it in the Mountain passes in Colorado this last fall. Some of the grades was in the 7 to 8% range. No problems Watch your temp gages, and if any increase in temp just slow down and manually shift to a lower gear. Good luck and safe travels.
