We are considering installing wood flooring in our 2005 Inspire. Does anyone have any ya's or nay's. Will the slides scratch the floors? I have a few cracked tiles in front of the refridge, and doubt if I could find a match for the tiles or the grout.

Tom,

There is an rver who does flooring on motorhomes, he travels the country doing this and he can probably answer just about any question you have on the subject. You can contact him on his yahoo group site.

Tom: We have done this to our coach and you have hit on the potential problems with these floors compared to tile.
The slides do scratch the floor so we use the plastic floor protectors which work very well.
These floors will also scratch if you walk on them with gritty shoes, so you will need to be more cautious about normal usage. Our practice is to remove shoes before entering the main part of the coach.

Tom,

We had our floor redone in engineered hardwood by Ernie Ekberg. Removed all tile (entry, kitchen thru bathroom). Paid considerable attention to slide rollers (only one rolls on floor - three others actually roll on bottom of slide).

Could not be happier with the result. Ernie is an old school craftsman. He will do it right and his attention to detail is almost impossible to find in this day and age. His rates are quite reasonable.
He is in CA and AZ for December and January. Check out his web site for numerous pictures of his work.
