Just noticed oil spot on the ground when air pressure is automatically purged. Also noticing oil when manually purging brake line located in the propane bay. The condenser filter was replace about 6 months ago. Have also now starting hearing air releasing in the rear of the coach when I park it, the air release does not always happen, not sure if this is related? The air pressure is around 120 psi.

Have you changed the dryer filter? If you have changed the dryer filter, oil in the air system is usually a sign the compressor is failing. I don't know what a condenser filter has to do with the air system.

Hi John,
If you park with the tag axle in the raised position, it will automatically drop when you set the parking brake and turn off the ignition. This is when I hear some air, not loud, at the rear of the coach. If I remember to drop the tag first I don't hear any air until I level the coach. Just a possibility .

Certainly not the expert. The air system will periodically purge its self.
It is when the frequency increases that it indicates a problem. I believe that is related to the purge valve in your system which is one of the items that has to be periodically serviced. For my style Bendix dryer there used to be a rebuild kit, but that is no longer available and you replace the valve. I believe that oil coming out of the relief valve is an indication that the desiccant filter needs to be replaced..Bendix techs have said to me that the compressor vary seldom fails. If you have the Bendix air dryer go to the website and look for technical assistance. I found them to be very helpful.

Thanks for the reply, changed the desiccant filter about 5K miles ago. Was told by a dealer that a little bit of oil is normal. Told him the coach had 50K miles and said the compressor are very reliable.

Did change the desiccant filter about 5K miles ago, told that I can expect a little oil and that the compressors are very reliable. Will purge system more often. Thanks for the reply.

Have a Good Shop check if the Oil is comming out of the Engine Mounted Air Comp. Start there or do it yourself and remove the Air Hose at the comp. Silver braded flex hose! If oil is from this source a Reman comp is in order. Keep us Posted Ken 99 Allure 30356

John, usually normal for a rig with a few years of age to spit and appear to be very oily. As a matter of routine it would be a good idea to have your air dryer filter changed. The spot on the ground can be many spits and the area usually attracts dirt. Then at some point a drop on the concrete. If you wish ti actually inspect the air system ....drain down fully removing all air pressure. Find a easy to remove air line, remove and inspect the inside of the line surface. Another is to open a air tank purge valve and watch what squirts out. Normal for air purge at discharge locations front and rear.
Any heavy duty truck shop could look at your rig and give you a opinion of your air system. There first question would be ...have you changed the air system dryer filter ? AL

There is a valve that feeds air back to the air compressor while it is in idle mode. This pressurizes the compressor head to prevent it sucking oil from the crank case. if this valve fails for any reason your system can saturate with oil. You can get a rebuilt air dryer (after market) not genuine bendex parts, or you can order the parts from bendex and rebuild it your self or by your mech. Best bet is to call bendex tech help. They are the pros.

You brought up a good point. A friend SOB coach with a Cat had similar problem and Cat sold him some sort of check valve I remember seeing it as it looked like a one way reed valve and was an easy install, If you have a Cat run this by the Cat Group. Working for Cat I did mostly Ind, Diesel and Gas engines. Keep us posted. Ken 99 Allure 30356
