my friend has a 2002 magna with an add on in the engine compartment that is connected to the heater hoses. can anyone tell me what it is and how it works? roger streetman

Roger,

If I understand your correctly, the "02 Magna has a diesel fired domestic hot water heating system. The line you are referring to supplies hot engine coolant to the "boiler" of the heating system. As a result, you have hot water when you arrive at your destination. Additionally, while traveling, your heating system stays hot and can supply interior heat.
It also works in reverse, you can warm your engine before starting on your next trip.

I would think your Affinity works the same way.
