My coach is in storage from May through November. Because I did not want to have the system including the echo charge running I found if I put the coach in storage with the batteries fully charged, all I need is one 1.5 AMP battery charger on both the house and the chas. Batts. This keep both batts. fully charged and extends the life of both the charger and the inverter. Also, I have remover the cover over the inverter and installed a fan. This keeps the fan from running in the inverter and keeps the inverter cool.

If I have an echo charger I don't think it is working. Read the post that has CC tips in it. Saw what the echo charger looks like but can't seem to find one anywhere near the inverter. Could it be located anywhere else? Tom Coomes

Mine is located on the bottom front of the engine compartment, near the bottom; it is a small unit about 4" x 5"; you can trace the chassis battery connection (red) to the echo charger

Tom,
Look in the starting battery compartment in the back right side.

Tom,
I have a 2007 Inspire and mine is located in a compartment just in front of the chassis battery on right rear of the coach. It's mounted high up so it's not easy see.

We have a 2003 Intrigue and had a problem with our echo charger a few years ago. We had the coach a couple years when the coach battery went dead. Of coarse the doors were locked at the time. Any how come to find out the echo charger wasn't working I was told to check the fuse, which is in the line from the battery. It takes a slow burn 20 amp fuse Ithink. I located the fuse holder and it was empty. There had never been a fuse put in. New fuse and haven't had a problem since. Hope your fix is as simple.
Good Luck !

I went and looked for mine again. On the 2003 Intrigue 36' there are two battery locations. the coach battery is in the rear and the house batteries are up front by the propane. That's also where the inverting is. On my coach the echo charger is back in a compartment over the coach battery. You now forced me to clean out coach battery area. Haven't looked in on it in a while. Thank you.

Tom,
I agree with the 2005 Inspire owners the echo charger is in the chassis battery compartment in the back upper right back corner. Mine worked off and on for several years. I had a Maxxmum charger added to replaced the Echo and have no problems since. You might want to contact Butch at Fountain RV in Lakeland, FL. or Kevin Waite in Junction City. They seemed to know how to solve this issue. The Echo charger is worthless as far as I'm concerned

Tom,
Mine is located on the upper right side of the battery bay.
Be aware, just because you may get the right LEDs showing, this does not mean the echo charger is working.
I speak from experience.

Thanks for all the responses. What a great group I found the charger in the chassis battery compartment, upper right hand side. Sure enough I have a blown fuse.

Tom:
I guess I didn't respond in time before you found your problem but for FYI I have (3) Xantrex Echo Chargers in stock if anyone is interested or I have the "ACR" Upgrades as well. Feel free to contact me at my personal email if anyone is in need.

George, Based on your comment I'd be interested in 1. how you determined it wasn't charging when the correct LED indicates and 2. What did you do to correct the problem.

Mike,
Chassis battery was not holding a charge.
Luckily my mechanic had prior experience with the symptoms and immediately said it was the echo charger. When I told him the LEDs were correct he said it didn't matter. Swapped out the unit and presto, no further problems.

Yes FWIW, that's been my experience. One way I can tell if it's charging is to measure the voltage. On my coach, if the engine battery is below 13 volts, it's time to check the fuses on the Echo Charger.

Don't know about the newer coaches... but, the Echo Charger in my ol' Magna has fuses in both the line from the house batteries and the line from the Echo Charger to the chassis batteries...
Moral of the story: Look to see if both input and output lines are fused... If so, check the fuses in both lines...

Tom,
I have Inspire #51399 and mine is in the compartment with the starting battery (above and to the right). It quit charging and Infinity Coach in Auburn, Wa. told me they had replaced several with a Magnum (available a Marine stores), that they are easy to install, cost less and charge at a higher rate. Access isn't easy and the insturctions recommended a little heavier wire than what was installed in my Inspire. Did it a few months ago and everything is fine now.
