We're looking into moving into our CC. If you have RV insurance for full-timing we would really appreciate some advice. Who offers good insurance? What should we watch out? What should we make sure we have? Thank you for your help. As always, this group is a lifeline!

Ron,
One thing to remember is that once you sell your home, if that is part of your plan, then the home owners portion of the insurance is no longer available. That is what covers all of your belonging and more importantly person liability. There are many good companies that sell Full Timers policies that cover that gap but by the same token you must not have a home somewhere. Also Insurance is regulated on a state by state basis so you need to investigate what companies can do business in you state of residency as well as coverage allowed. For instance in Texas Full Time RVing riders are not allowed so insuring in Texas your must make sure that you have it covered with umbrella policies. In some counties in FL to register and insure a vehicle the insurance company offering the coverage must have an agent located physically in FL. Not all counties but I encountered that 7 years ago.
Now if you plan on keeping your home, I am not familiar with that situation. Maybe some others here are.

We have GMAC for full-timers. Prior to fulltiming, when we would store the coach, GMAC waived the premium or charged less when the coach wasn't being used. Premiums have been very reasonable.

We have used GMAC since starting full-timing three years ago. I checked every other full-time insurer that I could identify last summer and GMAC was the cheapest. I have not had a claim so I can't comment personally on how well they pay. A friend has had a good experience.

We were only fulltiming for a short period but had sold our house.
We went with Progressive as we felt they provdied the best (not necessarily the cheapest) coverage and were able to also get us a personal liability umbrella policy. THat can be difficult to do without a house.
During the period that we had them we had a major claim -- front tire blow out -- and we were happy with the way that they handled the claim. It ended up costing them quite a bit (you can read about it on our blog starting with http://rvschooner.com/post/Selling-the-Stick-e28098n-Brick.aspx (http://rvschooner.com/post/Selling-the-Stick-e28098n-Brick.aspx) ).
Since then we have switched to Safeco as we are nto fulltiming and bought a house. While I don't think that their coverage is as good as Progressive's (on the rig), havign combined house, RV & car insurance as well as umbrella coverage is a lot cheaper than it would have been to stay with Progressive.

I met an independent insurance agent at "Life on Wheels" years ago. It is who we use for coverage.

Denis,
I got a quote from FCIS and it was less than half what I paid GMAC for the current year. Have you or anyone else had any claims experience with FCIS?
Thanks for any information.
