Seems many ways to go. What is the best for missing the trucks, good roads and good grades? What has been your experience. GPS does not tell everything.

Hi Leonard,
I've traveled the route your interested in. Bit of a climb out of Bakersfield H58 to Barstow I40 to west of Needles H95 to Blythe and I10 to Quartzite. 95 is rough and two lane But OK.

Leonard,
I do this route every December. I-5 to Garman and left on 138 to Lancaster.south on14 to Palmdale and pick up 138 again until 18 to Victorville and Apple Valley. At Lucerne Valley, take 247 to Yucca Valley, left on 62, right on 177 to Desert Center , left on 1-10 to Q, AZ. Most traffic is going through Palmdale. Works for me.

LIke your routing. Never would have put that one together. Last time the traffic was terrible through the Palmdale area. We had a longer route picked out, but yours looks to do what we want and is shorter. Plus, we just may stop at the off road park at Garman and spend a little time with out toys checking it out. Looks like a good over night spot if nothing else.
Thanks
