Does anyone have info about Kelbaker Rd., running SE from Baker, CA, across the Mojave Preserve down to I-40? Any problems as far as driving the coach down it?

Any help appreciated.

I drove it about a year and a half ago from Baker to Amboy. The section from Baker to Kelso is not maintained very well. Be prepared to slow down for potholes, etc. From Kelso south is fine. Also, I didn't have cell service (Verizon) most of the way.

Thanks for the info John.

I've been in Tecopa for a week without a hint of Verizon signal so I can deal with that. Even found a canyon this morning where satellite radio didn't penetrate. Glad I was driving the toad because I think the coach would still be wedged in there.

While in Tecopa be sure to visit China Ranch. It's an interesting side trip.

John, After many years of thinking "I should try one of those date shakes," I finally did. Grace, the ranch owner is a delightful lady.
I would add, don't take your coach to China Ranch until you've gone in in your toad. After that, if you still want to take the coach, I'd like to hear about it.
I did take the shortcut from Baker thru Kelso yesterday. As you said, a little bumpy in the middle but a great scenic drive.
That was my first visit to Tecopa but not my last. It's not for everyone but if you've ever been on the surface of the moon, you know what Tecopa looks like.

Thanks again for responding.
