I am looking for a recommendation for a engine(Cat) and chassis service center in or near Santa Maria, CA (Central Coast of Calif).
Thanks,
John

I spent a lot of time trying to find a CAT center on the central coast that I felt comfortable with working on a motor home. The CAT centers in the area are truck oriented and discussion with service managers did not give confidence. I ended up at Peterson CAT in Eugene OR. I would try to get to Colton Truck in Colton CA.

We went to Peterson CAT in Eugene heading south last fall for CAT service, valve lash, etc. 400 miles down the road, engine shut down and $1300 later (6 hour towing experience -10 miles) went to the CAT shop in Bakersfield. They found a $1 fuse that had been blown. Coincidence? Maybe, but I was not happy with the work at Peterson CAT.

John, in my experience, the best is in the Cat Service Center in Oxnard about 100 miles south. They understand the special needs of Motor Home owners. I threw a valve and turbo in my old Cat 3208 in an SOB a few years ago. They did an excellent job and respeced the living quarters.
