Should a manual shift vehicle be left in neutral or in first gear when using a tow dolly, front wheels up?

Thanks

If your toad is a rear wheel drive, and you leave the trans in first gear, you will, positively burn up the transmission.
You should read the owners manual to see what is required for recreational towing. There are manual shift vehicles that cannot be towed for any distance or over a certain speed without disconnecting the driveshaft.
If you have a front wheel drive vehicle, then none of this applies and it doesn't make any difference what gear the transmission is in.

Leave in first gear ONLY if it is front wheel driven. If it is rear wheel driven leave in neutral.
