Don't forget to get your discount if you are a veteran.
I have seen a number of comments by CC owners about buying refrigerators, TVs, and other items at Lowes and Home Depot. If you have a VA card (issued by VA to anyone registered in the VA system) or any ID showing you are retired military, or any other ID showing you are a veteran, both of these companies and numerous other national chains give a discount, usually 10%. I spent a lot of money at these stores before I learned this. It is not a lot, but at least it pays the sales tax on the items. This is for all purchases, not just big ticket items. I just show the clerk my VA ID card before they ring up the merchandise and say, "I'd like my military discount, please." The discount makes their prices competitive with or better than Best Buy, etc. that don't give veterans a discount. I would rather give my business to those that do give the discounts .

You can also get a discount at Verizon on your phones. I am a veteran, but not retired military, I carry a copy of my DD214 and use it often at various places.
