I hate the tile and the carpet is wearing in the middle of the living room. The driver's side slideout rubs on the carpet when it comes in. Will the slideout rub on the wood flooring if I change it? Will the balance of the slideout change if the carpet isn't there? Does the carpet hold it up?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Carol, wood will not have any detrimental effects on slideout. Bring that baby to me and I can fix you up~

I replaced the carpet in my 2001 Intrigue with Thomasville wood flooring. My coach also had a tile section at the entrance that I replaced. The clearance for the wood vs carpet when the slide moves in is increased. We can now bring the slide in with a throw rug on top of the wood and all is fine. I think it looks very nice. We used woodflooring that is almost identical to the cabinet stain.
If I understand your post, the slide movement is wearing your carpet. My slide did not wear the carpet at all. If this is the case, you may have another issue that I didn't have to deal with.

please be careful. I saw an 06 Inspire with wood floors and it was beautiful. They had 2 like 1/4 inxch by 4in x 18 inch protectors they put down on the floors so when the slides were pulled in it wouls slide on the protectors. The protectors had many marks on them indicating the had saved the floors..

the most important thing I do in preparation is use a fibre optic scope to see under the slide

Thank you all for your answers. Will have a little rug to put under the slides.
Ernie, I am not in Texas and probably won't be for a couple of years...depending on the sand planner, of course. So, will probably get the flooring changed here in Minnesota.
Time to go shopping at Menards...or Home Depot.
Thanks again,

Those who have replaced their carpeting with other flooring, what did you do with the carpet that is on the walls by the steps and under the driver and passenger chairs? Did you leave carpet under the chairs or take them out and put wood or whatever your new floor covering is, under the chairs and the brake and accellerator pedals?
Cannot picture how to do this.
Thanks again!

Any other companies out there doing floors etc. You might as well advertise here as well.
