Whatever it is called. On my 2000 Magna, I've had the small red cap for the passenger side wheel bearing come off. I discover it when I see radial oil streaks on the tire. This is the second time it has happened. The oil gets contaminated with water and gets milky looking. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I make sure the cap will stay in place?
I had an rv dealer change the oil in that wheel the last time but wonder if I can just drain it out and replace it? Of course, I would continue to watch it to see if there is any residual contamination.

I had the same thing happen last summer, bought new red plugs. Haven't had any problem yet. Bob '02 Magna 6028

Howdy
I had the same thing happen, and I put a wrap of teflon pipe thread tape around the edge and I haven't had a problem since.

I just did as Bob did and bought two new plugs. When I inspected my drivers side front wheel that plug also came off. About $3 for the two of them. As I compared the new ones to the older ones, it appeared that the shoulders on what would be the inner part of the plug were slightly larger on the new plugs. Now I hope I have the same success as Bob. If so, who new there was a life to these plugs?
I also sucked all the oil that I could out of the bearings and replaced it with fresh oil. I figure I'll do that again over the next several trips until I'm satisfied all the old oil has been removed.

i have an outside cover over the red plug, the old plug was in the cover, i could have used in over but chose to buy new ones. no problem with dirt because it wasn't open to the air/water. bob'02magna6028
