Just a thought Stan - we added a straight stainless extension purchased from CC back when. It extends no more than an inch or so beyond the body. I considered a turn down but after looking at them and seeing the edge of the pipe would now extend at least 5 inches beyond the body (the diameter of the pipe) I would now have to worry about it hitting or getting hit during close calls. I just don't like things sticking out much if at all. Since the exhaust on the Inspire is surrouned by fiberglass body work, the damage to the coach from the longer pipe getting involved with something could be very expensive.
As warm air will rise based on the laws of physics alone, using a turn down end will not stop the gases from making it to neighbors anyway.
(I have the information on the manufacturer of the stainless extensions CC used if you are interested - just let me know and I will try to find it.)

Bob,
I never thought about the clearance issue. I purchased a chrome turn down. I am going to go to the motorhome this morning and determine how much it extends beyond the coach. Fortunately I saved the bill and will be able to return.

Another down turn thing to consider is the dust one will kink up in unpaved areas.

Stan & Bob:
From the DOT standards, your exhaust tip should extend no more than 2" beyond the body of the coach.

Walt,
It has been brought to my attention that the turn down would be illegale because it wouldprotrodude bryond the two inch limit.

My tip does not exceed the 2", not even knowing the DOT rule I don't want a 5" pipe sticking out any appreciable distance. Lots of potential for trouble.
Any truck stop should have dozens of chrome plated exhaust ends in stock. An exhaust shop will have steel pipe and can cut to any length and both can supply clamps including sleeve type clamps that don't require the pipes to slip into each other.
Summitt Racing sells 5" exhaust tips; there is also good ol' JC Whitney and there are hundreds of truck dressup sites on the web.
According to messages in the archives, Standley Manufacturing is the company who made the stainless tips for CC, I believe they are located in Junction City.

That is what I used but beware they are proud of them. I got mine from CC parts while they were still selling parts. You might also check with the current CC shop as they suppoedly have spare parts from the old company.
