Hello All - Getting ready to put new tires on the coach soon. Would be interested in opinions on best tire pressure monitors since Smart Tire is out now. Thanks - Logan 07Inspire52000

Logan, I replaced my failing Generation One Smart Tire system with the PressurePro unit. I really like how it works and it pretty easy to increase or decrease your tire pressures when needed.

The Smart Tire is still available for trucks and busses I don't see why these would not work on a large class A motor home. Below is their web site

My 1st gen Smart Tires have run out of gas. I know that Bendix still make the new Smart Tire for truck and bus fleets. But if they say they do not support the RVs, I will be dammed if I buy from them. They do not want my business, so they will not get it. I am going with Pressure Pro.

Al,
My first generation smart tire monitors are still working so they must still have gas in their little tanks. Yes I am not happy that smart tire does not sell gas to put back in them little things.
My 2004 coach was built in Nov of 2003 with 28k miles. But my tags did not come with the smart tire sensors so I bought the pressure pro monitors for all 8 tires and another 4 for what ever I tow behind the bus this year. For now that has been my 10K car trailer with what ever car or turck that is going with us on a trip.
So for now I have two systems running. The pressure pro sensors that run on batteries and the smart tire system that runs on gas.
The only draw back has been that the pressure pro system reports about every 5 minutes once screwed onto the valve stem but I always have at least one sensor that does not want to report...very random at times. I know it is working because if you unscrew the bad one from the stem, the alarm goes off. Screw it back on an it just might wake up. I ound dropping them on the ground (accidentally) wakes the up too. So at least if I did start to loose pressure it would report immediately. It is not always the same sensor that goes AWOL.
I bought a little cheap plastic Harbor Fright organizer box that I keep all of the pressure pro sensors organized in when I am not running the coach for awhile. Unlike the smart tire system, they keep running all the time and do not shut down when the tires are not moving. Takes less than four minutes to screw them all on but you have to keep them back on the same tire or you really add 12 random events into your life because they are programed for each tire when initially installed. :)
Sometimes it is one or two of the trailer tires and sometimes it is one of the drives or tag. I really go nuts when it is one of the two front tires that is not reporting so having the smart tire sytem still working is good. I did have the pressurepro repeater installed in the back of the coach.
I added the VMSpc black box and the bridge to monitor the engine and Pressurepro tires on my notebook computer and that is pretty cool. I can see all 16 sensors at one time. If it were not for the VMSpc system with the bridge, I would say it is an OK system but the fact that these sensors have good and bad days is a problem.

Where can replacement senders for SmartTire TPMS with fresh batteries be obtained as one poster to this thread mentioned?
The site listed for current source of SmartTire TPMS listed on one post in the thread: http://www.smartire .com/bus/ warnings (http://www.smartire.com/bus/warnings)
is one of those "contact us for further information outfits" but doesn't actually list their product or where it can be obtained, price, etc..
I have a 1st generation SmartTire system on my second set of sensors and it still works OK. In the relatively near future I'll be replacing all 6 tires and ideally would like to simply replace the senders with fresh batteries. I'd guess there are a number of others in the same position.
When they first came out I bought a PressurePro system and installed it. It worked but for a variety of reasons I prefer the internal sender mounted SmartTire approach.
The closest I have seen on a currently available similar system for RV's is the Tire-SafeGuard by HCI corp. Cerritos, CA. (contact@... (contact@...)). I recall only one post having to do with this system and it indicates intermittent reliability as I recall, although there are a number of testimonials on their site. They do, however, offer a number of sender options including internal and external valve mounted units as well as internal strap mounted senders and would seem an ideal solution for shops that sell RV tires to offer.
Dickson Tire seems to push the PressurePro without mentioning any other options for us SmartTire users although they imply that some replacements might be available. It seems that these outfits are less than completely straightforward when it comes to replacing or updating our TPMS - at least on the information offered on their web sites.

Smart Tire sensors are still available for RV's. Just had six installed by Les Schwab Tires in Burlington, Washington. They got them from a Les Schwab in Junction City, Oregon with instructions on how to reset the computer.

I've been reading thru the below posts as we had a right front total blowout on our 2007 Allure on I-95 in Florida going home to Tn. this past Sept. Trust me, if your tires are getting on, replace your tires before you have this happen. You don't want one of these as the steel stuck out like tree branchs. Total failure. We managed to slowly limp out of the right hand lane (which we were in at the time of the bo). Long story short w/the help of Good Sam, a replacement tire was brought out to us 3 hours later (as the orig tire size was difficult to locate) and put on the coach however the tire sensor was gone.
We have a 2007 CC Allure Sunset Bay 37. After reading these posts I'm a little confused as our unit has the Silver Leaf in it which my husband loves and he can check tire pressure easily. So, does anyone own a 2007 Allure Sunset or equiv w/a tag, that has the silver leaf, and has replaced a sensor; if so, were you able to use the same mfg. or does the silver leaf care what mfg. of sensor you use?
Any info would be appreciated as we are also facing purchasing the rest of the tires for the bus. We need to have this done by middle of November as we will be going back to Fl.
Thanks (wife)

Recently purchased the TXT 507 system with replaceable batteries. Put desire on Toad too. Will read when sitting still before heading out. Lots of people advocated this system on rv.net.

Are these the 1st generation sensors or 2nd generation? I have the first generation sensors and was told they are not available anymore. Thanks.

Larry,
They are the second generation sensors. I don;t know if they will work with the old wiring and gauge. Smarttire should know.

I did a bunch of research and decided to get the TST 507 (new with replaceable batteries) system, it shows both pressure and temp for each wheel, and allows individual per-axle high and low warning settings. Great for a coach like mine where I have different pressures in each axle, and totally different pressures on the toad/trailer. Definitely the preferred unit on rv.net.
However I now have Silverleaf in my coach, which integrates with PressurePro, so I've switched to PressurePro. Though the features aren't as good, it's nice to not have an extra display and wiring to worry about.
So I have a 12 sensor TST 507 (the new units) system, I've installed the 8 coach sensors (two front, four drive, two tag) for one trip, works fine. Have not installed the trailer/toad sensors, or the remote repeater booster unit (still in packaging).
Allows connection or reconnection of toad sensors to the system by pushing two buttons on the display.
Paid $599 for the 12 sensor system (includes of course monitoring panel) and $59 for the repeater.
Will sell all for $475 including shipping, has full packing and manuals.
