We just bought a 2002 Affinity. The step was working, but no longer is. We can't get it to open. Any ideas on what we should do. We will take everyone advice on lubricant when we can get it open.
Also, This may sound very basic, but do you need to be hooked up to water and power to get the toilet to flush? I have pressed the handle and nothing happens. I haven't tried putting in water.
Thanks,
Lisa

Hello Lisa,
You should have a water pump off/on switch on the upper panel near the door near the grey/black/fresh tank level switches. I hope you know not to pour water in the back of the toilet like you might in the tank of a standard house toilet. Your toilet will have an electronic switch with a timer and does not hold any water.

You will need water in your fresh water tank and the water pump turned on, or hookup to shore water for the toilet to work.
On our coach, if the toilet does not respond, it is possible that a fuse or loose wire problem exists in the wiring inside the toilet "tank". You might try tanking off the tank lid and wiggling the wires.
If the steps are not working, be sure the step power switch is in the "on" position.
In both cases, the house battery switch must be in the operate position.

I assume you know where the step switch near the door is, and have tried it? Check the fuses. Ours is in the compartment with the water heater, but check the owner's manual--it will tell you ehere the fuses are.
