After a visit to Medora, ND Ang and I will leave on August 1 to travel to Helena, Montana to visit friends. We have 4 days to travel 480 miles.
We'd love a recommendation or several for one great place we should stay on our way to Helena. We're willing to add extra mileage to visit a "must see"; and we'd love to stay at a state park (though I suspect temps might require at least electricity).

Any ideas will be welcome.

Thanks, Jim

Jealous of this trip of yours! Boy, do we love traveling that way and out there. To the south in MT, and it would certainly be out of your way, we enjoyed Red Lodge as well as the Big Sky area. We stayed at a KOA outside of Red Lodge (great restaurants and fun shopping and such a delightful town!) and outside of Big Sky we stayed in a US Forest Service campground that did have electricity. We did 3 wonderful hikes while in Big Sky, but to be fair, it was 17 years ago that we did the hikes. Gorgeous scenery. Of course if you're there, you're so close to the Tetons and Yellowstone that it might be hard to not stop. And once in Helena, you're pretty close to Glacier National Park. You are lucky folks! Wishing you a wonderful trip!
