I just posted pictures in a file of an accident that we had Friday morning around 9 AM. We were in the westbound lane of I-40 out of Albuquerque, NM. An east bound car lost control, came across the median. Jerry's quick reflexes and driving skill prevented a direct head-on hit. The pictures are pretty much self explainatory.
The good Lord was watching over us and neither Jerry nor I were injured. Unfortunately, there were no survivors in the car.
We were taken to Rockey Mountain RV in Albuquerque. These people are nothing short of WONDERFUL!! They were so helpful and supportive.
The coach did not get back to town until after 2 PM so, of course, the insurance adjuster has not been out. We expect it to be declared a total loss.
If anybody wants more information, please let me know.
Now, we are looking for another unit--perhaps a 2002 to 2004 Intrigue or Magna. Preferably 42'. We were on the way home, sign papers on the house and go full time!

We purchased this coach from Tom "truk4u" in March. Awesome, super clean coach. Too bad we did not get to enjoy it a little longer!! It appears that he is still on this list with his Prevost.

Oh My Goodness!!!
Were you sitting co-pilot? I don't think I would have the composure to take photos, or post them online 2 days after.
I wouldn't write it off as a total loss yet. Is there any significant damage, other than fiberglass, behind the front wheel? You might even be able to get some new parts with the factory back in operation. Your frame and mechanical systems might be in good shape.

Good grief Jerry, I'm in shock! I'm so glad you guys are OK and the CC can be replaced. I feel really bad you only got a few months out of the Magna, it was a good one. If there's anything we can do to help you out, just say the word.
Stay in touch and thank God your OK.

It looks dreadful, and we are happy that you have survived this harrowing experience. I do wonder, however, why "the good Lord" was not watching over the people in the car.:-
We do hope you are back on the road soon, with another Country Coach.

For Jerry's sake, I sure hope they total it. It will never be right after the repairs and de-valued big time due to now having significant damage history.

Our feelings exactly, Tom. That is what I said from the beginning. Just wonder how much hassle and how long it will all take.

Carfax only contains the information that someone has put into it, plus a bit of information based on the vin issuance. Your odds of finding anything useful are slim.

Wow... God was surely watching over you both. My Magma 5710 looks identical to your motorhome, so seeing the pictures makes me breathless.
I am so thankful for you both that our Country Coach's are so well built.
Best wishes, David

Considering the condition of the car that hit you, it looks like the ol' Magna held up fairly well...
Was anyone in the Co-Pilot seat???

Yes, Buck. I was in the co-pilot's seat. Fortunately, with my seat belt buckled!!!
We still don't have a settlement from the insurance company, but the coach was considered to be totaled. The repair estimate was over $103,000.

I should add----the coach was amazing!!! None of the cabinets came loose. The doors came open and some stuff came out, but nothing flying around to hit us. The coach is so heavy that the impact did not feel as hard as I would have thought. Just kind of a "thud". Our little dog gets upset with noises and such---it did not even faze her. She rides in my lap with leash attached and wrapped around my seat belt so that she would not go flying around in case of an accident. I probably cuddled her when I saw the car coming at us---I don't remember. But, she did not get upset at all.
We are still looking for another coach if anybody knows of one available. 2001-2003 Magna Depending on price would consider an Intrigue or Affinity.

How about a free coach - use ours - better then sitting in storage.
Yahoo Message Number: 73109 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/73109)
Well Ms Jurhee... All things considered, the seat-belt, the solid frame of the Magna, it is still obvious that Someone was "looking out" for you...
Stick with '99, 2000, 2001, 2002 as they were the best years for CC... You won't have all the problems the newer coaches have... (I am sure I will catch some "Flack" for this statement of truth) Also, your recent experience has made it exceedingly clear that the heavier coaches are safer, so I would advise staying with the Magna or Affinity...
I love my ol' Magna... She weighs in at 40Klb and with 100K+ miles on the odometer she still floats down the highway like a magic carpet...

Hope this is not too forward, but I have a 2003 Suite of Dreams Intrigue 11527 for sale, Cummins ISL 400, less than 50K miles, perfect condition, except VCR is gone. Asking $148K. If you have any interest or feedback I will appreciate it. I am just now considering selling, and will appreciate any feedback you have as you shop around for a new one.
Again, hope I am not butting in or being forward, just we may have a good match.
And again, thank goodness you were not hurt in the horrible accident. I still drive a 6,000 pound SUV for that very reason.

Here is an Affinity that's been sitting on this dealer's lot for several months. Looks like a nice rig.

Max,
Our Foretravel was a 2008. It was an awesome coach. The economy hit us, like many others. We sold it for enough to pay cash for a Country Coach Magna and have money left over. A nice Foretravel is more difficult to find than a Country Coach and is more expensive. We are looking for a Foretravel or Country Coach. Both are great quality and reliable (that is if you choose the right years for CC)

Thanks to everybody for all the thoughtful comments the past couple of weeks. Your encouragement has been so helpful.
Hopefully, we will agree on something from the insurance company before long. The coach was totaled, but the people that hit us were grossly underinsured, so our insurance is having to pick up the tab. We both had the same insurance company, so a double whammy for them.
I am going off list for a while--at least while packing and moving to Texas. I will check in on the website from time to time, but it posts won't be coming to Outlook on a daily basis.
Please keep my address and if you hear of a coach that might be of interest to us, please pass it on.

Thanks again!!!
