I have a 2000 Allure and have had problems with my dash A/C for several months. Several places have checked for leaks and recharged the A/C. Each time they put in a different amount of Freon than the last place saying that it had too much or too little and that was the problem. I finally found a technician in a truck repair place in Denison, IA that saw the clutch stop for a couple of minutes. He tested the compressor and found that the clutch would stop working every few minutes. Apparently it was working each time just long enough for me to get 30 minutes away from a repair shop, then stop. I hope to get my new compressor this afternoon, then proceed to the Colorado high country tomorrow for cool air.
Does anyone know how much Freon my dash A/C unit really needs? (Previous estimates range from 4 1/2 lbs. to 6 1/2 lbs.)
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Gene, My 33' '04 Allure has a sticker in the engine bay that says 4.5 lbs of refrigerant. I expect that yours is similar depending on length. I'm surprised you don't have a sticker with capacity on your coach.
Good luck.

Gene, A 40' coach takes 6.1 - 6.2 pounds of Freon.
